An extended health benefit plan specifically tailored to your­ needs can provide generous coverage for registered specialists, prescription drugs, travel emergencies, accidental death and dismemberment and more. Optional add-ons include dental coverage and disability (wage replacement) insurance. Your provincial plan doesn’t cover any of this!

Any business or self-employed person, whether incorporated or not, no matter what the size or how many employees (even if you are the sole employee) can purchase health & dental coverage.

The cost of your Health and Dental Plan is considered a tax-deductible business expense by CCRA (Revenue Canada). This means that your taxable income can be directly reduced by the amount you pay for your plan.

Basic services covered: Ambulance, prescription drugs, semi-private hospital room, hearing aids, medical equipment, psychologist, physiotherapist, chiropractor, chiropodist, naturopath, podiatrist, massage, speech pathologist, home nursing care, travel health insurance.

Optional upgrades: Dental coverage,  enhanced prescription drug coverage, eyeglasses, disability (wage replacement) insurance, critical illness insurance, life and accidental death insurance, dependent life insurance.

All plans require a medical questionnaire to be completed and reviewed prior to acceptance. Pre-existing medical conditions may affect the choices available to you.

Co-Insurance is the percentage of the bill that the insurance company will pay. Depending on the plan chosen, this can vary between 50%, 70%, 80% or 100% of the treatment cost.

Deductible is the initial amount that you are responsible to pay. Your expenses are reimbursed at the level stated in the plan that you chose. It is the patient’s responsibility to pay for any amount over that. The amounts that are covered are based upon the Schedule of approved billing prices for practitioners. Some plans provide an electronic billing service whereby the health or dental provider submits your bill directly to the insurer. This allows for immediate verification of your claim and expedites your reimbursement.

Payment options include pre-authorized payment from your bank account or credit card. Costs vary, based upon the plan options that you chose and the number of people enrolled.
